Lots of Tubby Toast All Over The Beds

The Tubby Toast Accident is a Teletubbies Segment. It is featured in the episode Feeding the Chickens, the US Version of Orange Picking, and Here Come the Teletubbies VHS.

Plot[]

Laa-Laa decides to have Tubby Toast, so she has a piece of Tubby Toast that pops out of The Tubby Toaster.

While Tinky Winky goes out for a walk, he smells the Tubby Toast, thinking it smells delicious. He goes to the house and he meets Laa-Laa. Tinky Winky tries to get a piece of Tubby Toast, but for some reason, the Tubby Toaster is not working properly this time. He tries to get it working again, and the Tubby Toaster flashes its lights and malfunctions. The Tubby Toaster shoots out zillions of pieces of Tubby Toast and engulfs in smoke (but miraculously does not catch fire), making the screen shake. Po wakes up by Tubby Toast flying everywhere. The Noo-Noo tries to tidy up the Tubby Toast, but also misses them, one by one. Tinky Winky gets his plate and tries to catch the Tubby Toast, but keeps on missing them.

While Dipsy is also out for a walk, he finds a piece of Tubby Toast on the ground and picks it up. He sees that the Tubby Toast is flying from the house and decides to go inside the house to see what is going on. The tubby toast is continuing to fly from the house dome, and the Baby Sun shrieks.

Back in the house, the chaos remains for twenty seconds and the Tubby Toaster finally stops. There is Tubby Toast all over the table, the floor, the beds, and even Tinky Winky has Tubby Toast stuck to him. The Teletubbies eat and clean up all the Tubby Toast. There is lots of Tubby Toast for Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po, Noo-Noo, and the rabbits. They cleaned up all the Tubby Toast that was not eaten offscreen. The Teletubbies cheer happily just before they finish up their Tubby Toast. But just as they do, the Magic Windmill spins; as they look through the windows, it appears that the Magic Windmill is spinning for something. The Teletubbies say "Uh Oh!" and run outside before the back door closes.

Toast book

The Flying Toast Book (1997)

  • Along with being shown in the home video, Here Come the Teletubbies, a book based on this segment was released in 1997 called "The Flying Toast".
  • There was a rare frowning piece of Tubby Toast seen when Noo-Noo was spinning.
  • In Feeding the Chickens, The windmill made the Stop Spinning sound but went straight to the Baby Sun crescendo screaming instead of the Windmill Stop Spinning animation then Tubby Bye Bye. This indicates that the Windmill froze offscreen.
  • In this segment, the Tubby Toaster sounds different compared to other segments.

Alternate Versions[]

  1. In the Here Come the Teletubbies VHS (both versions), when the Teletubbies see the windmill about to stop spinning, The "Uh-Oh!" sound from the intro was used.
  2. In the Here Come the Teletubbies UK VHS, The Playing On The Beach Scene replaces Tubby Bye Bye. The Windmill stopped spinning sound is still heard.
  3. In the Here Come the Teletubbies US VHS, The Magic Windmill stopping was seen on-screen. This also happens in Hands, Feet and Dirty Knees after the Tubby Sponges segment.
  4. In the US version of Orange Picking, neither a TV transmission nor Tubby Bye-Bye happens at the end, instead, after the narrator says "Lots of Tubby Toast for Everyone", it cuts to the Teletubbies cheering then cuts back to the same shot of the house seen before the Teletubbies cheered.

Goofs[]

  • When Tinky Winky's shown attempting to catch Tubby Toast with his plate, some studio equipment (possibly a light or camera) can be visibly seen on the left side of Tinky Winky.
  • In the same scene, after Tinky Winky walks out of view, the camera shakes for a brief instant.
  • In the scene after Po wakes up, a piece of Tubby Toast hits the camera causing the image to shake for a brief instant.
  • In the scene where the two rabbits are eating tubby toast, some kind of food (possibly actual bread) can be seen underneath the tubby toast.
  • In the scene where Noo-Noo is spinning around, a rare frowning piece of tubby toast can be seen among the other smiling ones.
  • After Tinky Winky is shown covered in tubby toast and returns back to the table, behind him, a small glimpse of Dipsy can be seen outside the door waiting to enter the scene.
