Photo Faces is the 12th episode of the original series. It first aired on 15th April 1997.

Plot[]

Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Laa-Laa go running along the hills and say "Eh-Oh". Suddenly Po pops up and says "Boo! Eh-Oh!". The Magic Windmill spins and the Teletubbies go off to watch some children taking photographs of each other's faces. Later, in Teletubbyland, a telescope appears and Dipsy has a good look around. He sees flowers, rabbits, trees and the house. Dipsy then hears some noises and looking through the telescope, he sees Laa-Laa playing with her ball, Tinky Winky opening and shutting his bag and Po smelling some flowers. After that, he sees the Teletubbies having a big hug so he rushes off to join in. The Magic Windmill starts to spin and the Teletubbies watch The Magic Tree. Then, the Magic Windmill stops spinning for Tubby Bye-Bye.

Featuring: Tarik Cassim, Gabriel Waddingham, Jay Simpson, Camille St Omer, Kevin & Kirsten Jarin

Plot (US Version)[]

Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Po have fun saying "Boo!" by popping up around the house. Then they watch some children taking photographs of each other's faces. Later in Teletubbyland, a chair appears and Po, Laa-Laa, Dipsy, and Tinky Winky have fun standing up and sitting down. Then, the Teletubbies do The Bumping Dance before Tubby Bye-Bye.

Trivia[]

  • The Teletubbies "Uh-Oh!" line that is used in both the TV Reciever and Magic Event sequences is the same exact sounding one that they say in the intro and also in Ned's Bicycle, The Grand Old Duke of York, Dad's Lorry, See-Saw, Owl Babies, Jumping, Numbers - 5 (V1), Dirty Dog and Sophie - Art Circus as well as on the VHS Here Come the Teletubbies.
  • When the Teletubbies go to the Magic Event place, the Sun Baby is not shown.
  • This episode also includes a rare animation of the Windmill.
  • This marks the first appearances of Camille, Jay, Kevin, Kristen and the only appearances of Gabriel and Tarik.
  • Laa-Laa was the boo shouter in the UK Version. Dipsy was the boo shouter in the US Version.
  • Laa-Laa is picked for the TV Event.
  • Tinky Winky was the missing Teletubby in the UK Version. Dipsy was the missing Teletubby in the US Version.
  • Both the previous episode See-Saw and the next episode Owl Babies both feature the modified window version of the Normal animation, which does not appear in this episode.
  • The opening segment in this episode was featured in the VHS Dance with the Teletubbies (first part only), as well as Music with Debbie, Digging in the Sand for Worms, Mark and Topus, and Robin and in the VHS Animals Big and Small (last part from the episode Music with Debbie). In both Dance with the Teletubbies and Animals Big and Small, the part where Po joins the other Teletubbies is cut out.
    • However, in Robin, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, and Laa-Laa are heard giggling as they run over the hills, and the Normal animation replaces the Original animation, just like in Music with Debbie.
    • Also, Mark Heenehan (the original voice of Tinky Winky) can be heard giggling as Tinky Winky in this opening segment, as well as saying "Eh-Oh!" to the viewers along with Dipsy and Laa-Laa, since Heenehan was voicing Tinky Winky at the time.
  • The Photo Faces video appears on the PlayStation/PC game Play with the Teletubbies as well as the VHS/DVD Look!.
  • The US Version of Photo Faces aired on October 2, 1998.
  • The US version has The Bumping Dance (extended version) instead of The Magic Tree.

Goofs[]

  • As mentioned above, there is a rare windmill clip at the end of the "Dipsy and the Telescope" segment but when the rare clip happens, The windmill's sparkles don't appear until the TV\Magical Event animation is shown, therefore the sparkles appear much too late.
